Poison Help Line professionals are available to “Prepare. Prevent. Protect.” people from poisons. Calling the Poison Help Line can help save:
- Time: When seconds count, calling the Poison Help Line is faster and more accurate than an internet search. Calls are answered immediately by nurses, pharmacists, and doctors.
- Concern: When you call the Poison Help Line, the phone is answered by highly trained specialists who have the most accurate information regarding treatment recommendations. Additionally, interpreters can help in more than 150 languages.
- Money: Calling the Poison Help Line is free. Over 90% of calls from residential settings can be safely treated at home which reduces expensive and unnecessary visits to the emergency department or hospital.
- Lives: Whether it is a question or emergency, the Poison Help Line is available 24/7 for life-saving information.
Whether your child swallowed a button battery, an older relative mistakenly took a double dose of medication, or you splashed cleaning product into your eyes, the Poison Help Line is available to help. Even doctors call the Poison Help Line to receive the most updated poison treatment information, said Mandy Slag Injury Prevention Program Director.
