Hearing Screen

Screening tests using specialized equipment are conducted to identify newborn infants who are deaf or hard of hearing so appropriate intervention services can be started as soon as possible.

ND Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) Program works to provide hearing screenings to all newborns in the state before hospital discharge and to refer those identified to appropriate early intervention services.

The goal of the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) is to ensure that all infants and toddlers with hearing loss are identified as early as possible and provided with timely and appropriate audiological, educational, and medical intervention.
