North Dakota Medical Facility Table Top and Full Scale Exercises - 2017

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has put forth requirements for hospitals and long term care facilities that include one table top exercise (TTX) and one full scale exercise (FSE) to be completed by November 15, 2017.  

Listed below are links to each exercise which includes a brief overview of the exercise to include exercise prerequisites and exercise objectives.  Additionally, each exercise has preregistration requirements and a registration link. 

The North Dakota Long Term Care Association also has a TTX that will be held during their annual conference.  A link is provided to access the Long Term Care Conference registration page. 

Please note that to receive the proper credit for these exercises the CMS requires participation, not observation in the exercises being held.

Fargo Full Scale Exercise: September 26, 2017

  • This exercise will require the full-scale evacuation of a minimum of one mock patient using the incident command systems and emergency notification/communication system.
  • Prerequisites (recommended but not required) include: ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700; Knowledge of emergency communications operations, medical facility incident command operations, statewide facility evacuation procedures and patient tracking in HC Standard

Statewide Table Top Exercise: October 11, 2017

  • The scenario for this table top exercise revolves around an evacuation due to flooding.
  • There are no prerequisites for this exericse

Bismarck Full Scale Exercise: October 18, 2017

  • This full-scale mobile distribution exercise involves the dispensing of medication during an emergency to health facilities that can then dispense within their facility. Participants will pick up "meds" (candy) and dispense at their facility.
  • Prerequisites to this exercise include: Attendance at a planning meeting on September 20, 2017, completion of the Pandemic Influenza Vaccine Prophylaxis form, development of an internal dispensing plan, and creation of an AAR/IP.

Dickinson Full Scale Exercise: October 24 - 25, 2017

  • This full scale exercise gives partners a chance to test their internal and external response, on dealing with a Pandemic Flu including testing plans, training and networking.
  • Prerequisites (recommended but not required) include: ICS 100 and ICS 700; Knowledge of HAN Assets, POD Plans and Medical Surge

Grand Forks Full Scale Exercise: November 1, 2017

  • The exercise will consist of a flood scenario requiring evacuation of a medical facility. All necessary training and exercise will be conducted as part of the exercise. Participants will receive instruction and hands on practice to meet objectives.

Minot Full Scale Exercise: November 2, 2017
