Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response
The Division of Public Health Emergency Preparedness & Response provides local and state public health guidance, planning, coordination, response and funding for large scale emergencies. These activities include coordination and funding of incident command and control, disease control, laboratory services, communications systems, public information, medical supplies, equipment and pharmaceuticals and training. Funding for this division is provided by a cooperative agreement through the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control.

SNS (Strategic National Stockpile) contains medical cache for public health emergencies.
It is comprised of two components:
- 12 Hour Push Package
- Managed Inventory
Depending on the public health emergency, SNS assets, when requested by the State, can arrive within 6-12 hours of the federal decision to deploy.
